Runscope snags $6 mln

According to an announcement on its site, Runscope has closed $6 million in Series A funding. General Catalyst led the round with participation from True Ventures and Lerer Ventures. Dr. Steve Herrold, managing director at General Catalyst, has been added to Runscope’s board of directors. Based in San Francisco, Runscope is a provider of tools that help developers monitor APIs. Northzone leads Series A round for Bloglovin

Bloglovin said Thursday that it has closed $7 million in Series A funding. Northzone led the round with participation from other investors that included Betaworks, Lerer Ventures, White Star Capital and Bassett Investment Group. Bloglovin is a platform that helps users follow and track their favorite blogs.

VC-backed SHIFT hires MD for UK and Europe

SHIFT has named Kate Burns as managing director of its UK and European operations. Burns is the former CEO of AOL Europe. Headquartered in Los Angeles, SHIFT is a provider of marketing solutions for social advertisers. It is backed by Lerer Ventures, Thrive Capital, Founder Collective, Rincon Venture Partners, Baroda Ventures, Crosscut Venture Partners and DN Capital.

Content marketing platform Percolate nabs $24 mln

New York City-based content marketing platform Percolate said Tuesday that it has raised $24 million in Series B financing. Sequoia Capital led the round with participation from previous backers GGV Capital, First Round Capital, Lerer Ventures and WPP. Also, Percolate has added Mike Dixon of Sequoia to its board of directors.

College app Blend raises $2.7 mln, Ohio State students need not apply

New Enterprise Associates has led a $2.7 million seed round in Blend, a San Francisco-based maker of a social networking app for college students. Trinity Ventures, Foundation Capital, Lerer Ventures, Maveron, BoxGroup, XG Ventures and SparkLabs Global Ventures also joined in the seed round. The app is available for students in more than 3,500 universities nationwide, except those from Ohio State University. Blend co-founder and CEO Akash Nigam attended the University of Michigan before dropping out and launching Blend. As such, the company doesn’t allow students from rival school Ohio State to sign up for the app.

Soylent closes $1.5m in seed funding – TechCrunch

Meal replacement drink Soylent has raised $1.5 million in seed funding from investors, including Andreessen Horowitz and Lerer Ventures, according to TechCrunch. Other investors include Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Harj Taggar and YC venture partner Garry Tan through their fund, Initialized Capital and Jack and Sam Altman through their vehicle, Hydrazine Capital.

Tulip Retail raises $2.4m seed investment

Waterloo, Ontario based tech startup Tulip Retail has announced a $2.4 million investment led by SoftTech. Others investors include Founder Collective, BoxGroup, Lerer Ventures, iNovia, Promus Ventures, KIMA Ventures, Matt Mullenweg (founder of Wordpress), the founders of Bufferbox, and Greg Kidd (early investor in Twitter and advisor to Square).

Brit + Co. Raises Series A Led by Oak Investment Partners

Media company Brit + Co. has secured a $6.3 million Series A led by Oak Investment Partners, with participation from Index Ventures, Lerer Ventures and Cowboy Ventures. Previous angel investors, including Marissa Mayer and Aileen Lee also reinvested in the company.
