OpenCoin has closed an angel round of funding from Andreessen Horowitz, FF Angel IV, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Vast Ventures, and Bitcoin Opportunity Fund, an investment vehicle for Bitcoins and Bitcoin-related companies.

NEA Leads $37M Round in MuleSoft

MuleSoft, which provides enterprises with a cloud-based platform to integrate its mobile and on-premise data and applications, has raised $37 million in new funding. New Enterprise Associates lead the round, with participation from Salesforce.com, as well as returning investors Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, SAP Ventures and Bay Partners. The company has now raised about $81 million in capital since 2006.

Cloud Networking Startup Pertino Secures $20M

Pertino, which develops software for managing wide area networks over the cloud, has raised $20 million in a Series B round led by new investor Jafco Ventures, with Norwest Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners also participating. Pertino raised nearly $9 million in a Series A deal from Norwest and Lightspeed in April 2012.

Infinio Inks $10m from Highland Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners

Infinio (formerly known as SilverLining Systems) has closed a $10 million Series A investment from Highland Capital Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners, bringing total funding to date to $12 million. The firms join earlier investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Cambridge’s Founder Collective, the NYC Seed Fund, and a group of angel investors. As part of the financing, Highland’s Sean Dalton and Bessemer’s Felda Hardymon have joined the company’s board of directors.

Lightspeed Venture Partners has appointed Tim Danford as a venture partner. He will focus on incubating companies in the enterprise technology and mobile sectors from Lightspeed’s Menlo Park office.

BloomReach Secures Series C led by New Enterprise Associates

BloomReach, a creator of big data marketing applications, has secured $25 million in Series C funding, led by New Enterprise Associates. Existing investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners and Bain Capital Ventures, also participated in the third round, bringing BloomReach’s total funding to $41 million to date. BloomReach is headquartered in Mountain View, CA.

SideCar Revs Up With $10M Series A

Lightspeed Venture Partners and Google Ventures have pooled together to invest a $10 million Series A round in the ridesharing company SideCar, which operates a peer-to-peer ridesharing network. The San Francisco-based company had previously raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from numerous investors, including Spring Ventures, Huron River Ventures, SV Angel, Lerer Ventures, First Step Fund, Jeff Clarke, Lisa Gansky, Robert Goldberg, Jared Kopf, Konstantin Othmer, Mark Pincus, Martin Roscheisen, Josh Silverman and Thomas Varghese.

Big Data Company DataStax Racks Up Third Round of Funding

DataStax, the provider of the open source database management system Apache Cassandra, has raised a $25 million Series C round of funding. Meritech Capital Partners led the round, with participation from existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Crosslink Capital. The company has now raised $38.7 million in fudning since 2010.

LLR Partners Invests in Orbis Education

Orbis Education, a 9-year-old Indianapolis-based developer of nursing-education software, has received an undisclosed amount of “growth capital investment” from the Philadelphia-based private equity firm LLR Partners. The venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners led an $8 million Series B investment in the company in 2010, at which point the company had raised at least $12 million. [...]
