Getable Closes Second Funding Round

Getable has closed a second financing, totaling $1.8 million. This brings total funding for the company to $3.2 million. Investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Founder Collective, Promus Ventures and Chris Sacca of Lowercase Capital.

Ancestry.com Purchases 1000memories

Online family history resource Ancestry.com has acquired San Francisco-based startup 1000memories. Founded in 2010, 1000memories makes it easy to digitize and share photos and stories from the past. The business was funded by angel and institutional investors, including Greylock Partners, Y Combinator, SV Angel, Founder Collective, and Lowercase Capital.

Turntable.fm Bags New Round

Music Site Turntable.Fm has raised $7.5 million and is adding Union Square Ventures’ Fred Wilson to its board. Union Square Ventures led the round in Turntable, which was widely rumored earlier. Other investors include First Round Capital, Polaris, Lowercase Capital, Benchmark, and angels including Troy Carter, Tim Kendall, Guy Oseary and Vivi Nevo.

Backupify Secures $5M Series B

Cambridge, Mass.-based Backupify has closed on $5 million in a Series B round led by Avalon Ventures. The company provides data protection and management services for cloud-based applications. General Catalyst and Lowercase Capital also contributed to the round, bringing the company’s total financing to date to $10.4 million.

San Francisco-based UberCab, founded by Stumbleupon co-founder Garrett Camp and entrepreneur-angel Travis Kalanick, has closed a $1.25 million seed round led by First Round Capital, and joined by Founder Collective, Lowercase Capital and numerous individual investors.
