Lux Capital said it has raised a third fund of $245 million, a step up from its second fund of about $100 million. The firm said the new fund was oversubscribed and exceeded its initial $200 million target.

Lux Capital has promoted three, naming Adam Kalish general partner; Shahin Farshchi principal; and Zack Schildhorn vice president and director of operations. Kalish joined the firm in 2005, and worked previously as a director at Everest Capital. Farshchi has worked with Lux Capital since 2006, focusing on investments in energy and technology. Transphorm Inc. has closed a $25 million Series D financing round from Quantum Strategic Partners Ltd., a private investment fund managed by Soros Fund Management, and existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Google Ventures, Foundation Capital and Lux Capital. The latest round brings Transphorm’s total funding to $63 million. The company, which launched in February, will use the money to continue development of its compact power conversion technology.
