Toronto’s Chango Raises $12 Million in Funding

Chango Inc. said Wednesday it has raised $12 million in funding from existing investors including iNovia Capital, Rho Canada Ventures, Metamorphic Ventures, Mantella Venture Partners and Extreme Venture Partners. Chango is an ad technology company, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.

Nearbuy Systems Inks $1M

Nearbuy Systems has raised $1 million from Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors and Metamorphic Ventures. The company, which makes indoor “mico-location” marketing software, will use the money for continued development of its system, and to get the technology into retail stores. Nearbuy is based in Menlo Park, Calif.

Encoding.com Inks $2M From Shareholders

Encoding.com, a San Francisco-based video encoding service provider, has raised $2 million in fresh capital from its current investors. Metamorphic Ventures led the round, which included participation from individual investors Patrick Condon, John Engates and Dave Morgan. The money will be used for expansion, the company said in a written statement.

Chango Closes on $4.25M Series B

Toronto-based search marketing startup Chango has raised $4.25 million in Series B financing. Rho Canada, a division of NY-based Rho Capital Partners, led the round, which included participation from iNovia Capital, Metamorphic Ventures, Extreme Venture Partners and 24/7 Media co-founder Geoff Judge. As a result of the funding, Rho Canada’s Roger Chabra will join the Chango board.

Transactis Adds $7 Million Series B

Electronic billing and payment company Transactis has raised $7 million in a Series B financing round led by New York-based StarVest Partners. Existing shareholders and the company’s management also contributed to the round, which will help Transactis expand sales of its software-as-a-service. In March, Transactis said it had raised $2.5 million in VC funding led by New York-based Metamorphic Ventures.
