Milestone Partners has raised about $150 million for its fourth fund, Buyouts reported yesterday, citing a source close to the firm’s plans. Milestone Partners is expected to start fundraising for its latest pool this summer, a source says.

Radnor, Pa.-based Milestone, a lower middle market firm, is looking to raise $350 million, according to the source and a June 2011 document from Pennsylvania’s Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS). Milestone Partners IV LP has a $450 million hard cap, PSERS says.

The firm’s last fund, Milestone III, raised $240 million in 2008, while the second fund collected $120 million in 2004. Milestone II has a 24.1% IRR while the third fund has an 8.7% IRR, PSERS says (PSERS invested about $30 million in fund II and $60 million in fund III), the document says.

Bob Levine has left Milestone Partners, the Radnor, Pa.-based buyout firm he co-founded in 1995, to start his own shop in part to avoid regulation by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Milestone Partners hired Ric Andersen as a partner and a member of the firm’s senior leadership team He will also serve on the firm’s investment committee. Andersen is a former managing director at Silver Lake Partners.

Learn It Systems, an educational services company based in Baltimore, has raised an undisclosed amount of financing from venture firm Milestone Partners. The company will use the majority of the financing to buyout a founding shareholder, the company said. Milestone is based in Radnor, Penn.

Milestone Partners has agreed to sell Interconnect Devices Inc., a provider of provider of spring contact probe based technologies, to a division of Smiths Group PLC. The deal is valued at $185 million in cash, and is expected to close next month.

Milestone Partners has completed its acquisition of Mariner Finance LLC from First Mariner Bancorp (NasdaqGM: FMAR). No financial terms were disclosed. Mariner Finance is a Baltimore-based provider of medium-term installment loans, related credit insurance and ancillary products to near-prime borrowers.
