Aker Solutions has acquired Managed Pressure Operations International, which was backed by NGP Energy Technology Partners. Financial terms weren’t announced. MPO, of Houston, provides managed pressure drilling and continuous circulating systems. Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. provided financial advice to MPO.

California-based solid-state lighting company ED Engin has completed a Series E financing. Technology fund GVT Fund led the round and was joined by co-investor MSIVC, existing investors WK Technology Fund, Partech International, NGP Energy Technology Partners and independent investor and chairman Dr Keh-Shew Lu. Community Energy, Inc, raised $4m in a Series A round of funding, led by SJF Ventures, a venture capital fund with offices in Durham, NC, New York and san Francisco. NGP Energy Technology Partners also invested. The deal includes an option to invest another $2 million. Community Energy will use the funds to develop solar energy projects in the Northeast, Mid-West, and West.

NGP Energy Technology Partners has closed its second fund with $348 million in capital commitments. The fund will make growth equity investments in companies offeringtech-related products and services to the oil & gas, power, alternative energy and energy efficiency sectors.

Xunlight Corporation, a Toledo, Ohio-based developer of silicon solar modules, has received a $7 million loan from the State of Ohio.
