Fusebill Gets Funding Led by OMERS Ventures with Covington Capital Funds

Fusebill, a provider of automated, flexible and affordable subscription billing and payment solutions, has secured a $2 million investment led by OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of Canadian pension plan OMERS. Covington Capital also participated in the investment.

Vidyard said it secured $6 million in Series A financing in a deal led by OMERS Ventures and joined by current investors iNovia Capital and SoftTech VC. The company is developing a video marketing platform.

OMERS Ventures Adds George Babu as Director

OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of Canadian public sector pension fund OMERS, has added George Babu as a director responsible for identifying and executing investment opportunities in TMT sectors. Mr. Babu was previously general counsel and head of US operations for Stockholm-based social gifting startup Wrapp. OMERS Ventures was established with C$180 million under management in 2011.

Vision Critical Communications, Inc., a Vancouver, British Columbia-based specialist in online market research, has acquired DiscoverText, a cloud-based text analytics solutions provider. No financial terms of the transaction were released. Vision Critical raised C$20 million from OMERS Ventures in August, 2012.  The company has also been financed by TELUS Ventures and Welllington Financial LP in deals going back to 2004.

In this role, Crow will advocate OMERS Ventures within the technology community. Derek Smyth Jumps to OMERS Ventures

OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of Canada’s OMERS pension plan, announced Monday that it has hired Derek Smyth as a managing director. Smyth worked previously as a partner at Edgestone Capital Partners, and also worked with Bridgescale Partners. The addition of Smyth is the second such announcement this month for OMERS Ventures. The firm recently added former PeopleSoft executive Howard Gwin as a managing director.
