BAROnova Closes Series C

trong>BAROnova has closed its Series C financing of $27.3 million, led by investments from Sante Ventures and Boston Scientific Corporation, an innovator of medical devices and technologies. Investors included Series B investors ONSET Ventures, Highland Capital Partners and Arboretum Ventures, along with new investor Lumira Capital. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Security Startup Nok Nok Labs Already Knocked on VCs’ Doors

Nok Nok Labs, which develops authentication technology for the cloud, came out of stealth today and launched its product and services. The venture-backed company was founded by CEO Phillip Dunkelberger, who previously launched encryption company PGP Corp. He founded Nok Nok in 2011 and raised a $15 million Series A round that same year from ONSET Ventures and DCM.

Gridstore Raises $12.5M From GGV, ONSET, Others

Gridstore said it raised $12.5 million in a Series A financing led by GGV Capital and ONSET Ventures. The financing was joined by all existing investors and brings the company’s total venture funding to $15 million. Gridstore will expand its sales efforts and accelerate product delivery.

CytoPherx Seals $34M

CytoPherx Inc., a developer of anti-inflammatory therapy for acute kidney injury, has raised $34 million in funding from Early Stage Partners, ONSET Ventures and Capital Midwest Fund. The money will be used to complete clinical trials and commercialize its therapy product. CytoPherx was founded in July 2007 and is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Adaptive Planning Adds John Herr as C.E.O.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Adaptive Planning has named John Herr as its new chief executive. The company, which provides on-demand corporate performance management software, is backed by venture firms ONSET Ventures, Monitor Ventures, Cardinal Venture Capital and Clairmont Capital. Herr was most recently an executive-in-residence at Norwest Venture Partners. Earlier, he was president and CEO at EZ Shield, a technology-enabled services company. He has also worked as vice president and general manager at eBay and PayPal.

Valeritas Lands $150M Series C

Valeritas Inc., a Bridgewater, N.J.-based developer of drug delivery systems for the diabetes market, has raised $150 million in Series C financing. The funding will support commercialization of its V-Go disposable insulin delivery device. Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe led the financing and assumes a controlling interest in Valeritas. Previous investors MPM Capital, Pitango Venture Capital, Abingworth Management, Advanced Technology Ventures, ONSET Ventures, HLM Venture Partners, Agate Medical Investments, CHL Medical Partners and Kaiser Permanente Ventures also participated.

SingTel Innov8 leads $15M Round for Sentilla

Sentilla Corp., a maker of software to monitor and automate data center work loads, has raised $15 million in Series C financing. SingTel Innov8 Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the SingTel Group, led the round. Existing backers ONSET Ventures and Claremont Creek Ventures also participated in the round. The money will be used to expand sales and marketing efforts.
