Safeguard Scientifics, a Wayne, Pa.-based investment company focused on technology and healthcare outfits, has provided $5 million of a new $6 million Series B round of financing raised by Pneuron Corp., a Woburn, Mass.-based company that sells large data integration software applications. Osage Venture Partners has closed Osage Venture Partners III, exceeding its target fund size by 10 percent to reach $66 million. Osage Venture Partners III will continue with the same strategy for Osage Venture Partners II, investing exclusively in early stage enterprise software companies in the mid-Atlantic region.

NXT Capital’s venture finance group has provided financing to support Clinipace Worldwide’s acquisition of Paragon Biomedical. Digital contract research organization Clinipace is headquartered in Morrisville, North Carolina and is backed by Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, Hatteras Venture Partners, Brooke Private Equity, Osage Venture Partners and Mario Family Partners.

Blue Bell, Penn.-based Halfpenny Technologies Inc., a provider of clinical data integration technology, has raised $2.25 million in venture capital. Identropy Closes on $4M Series A

Milestone Venture Partners and Osage Venture Partners have backed Identropy, a maker of identity and access management software, to the tune of $4 million. The Series A round will support growth of the company’s cloud-based technology, and will be used to expand sales and marketing efforts. The start-up is based in Moonachie, New Jersey.

Tangent Medical Closes $4.5M

Arboretum Ventures and Flagship Ventures co-led a $4.5 million Series A round for medical device startup Tangent Medical Technologies Inc. Osage Ventures and several undisclosed angel investors also contributed. Tim Petersen of Arboretum and Harry Wilcox of Flagship have joined Tangent’s board.

FieldView Solutions Adds $2M

FieldView Solutions, a maker of data center infrastructure management software, has closed on $2 million in fresh capital from SJF Ventures, Milestone Venture Partners and Osage Venture Partners. The money will help the company expand its development team, among other efforts. Edison, New Jersey-based Fieldview closed a $2.75 million Series A round in 2009.
