Sophiris Bio Appoints Knauf as Director

Sophiris Bio has appointed Noah Knauf as a director of the company. Knauf replaces Jonathan Leff, who has resigned as a director, as a Warburg Pincus nominee director. Knauf focuses on healthcare and life sciences as an investment professional at Warburg Pincus. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, he was an associate at Parthenon Capital and a consultant with Bain & Company.

Parthenon Capital Partners, a Boston and San Francisco-based mid-market firm, has closed its latest fund, Parthenon Investors IV LP, with $700 million in commitments, above its initial $600 million goal.

Morgan Stanley Credit Partners said Tuesday that it provided a $43 million mezz loan to support Parthenon Capital’s and Lovell Minnick’s buy of H.D. Vest Financial Services. Morgan Stanley Credit Partnes also co-invested in the deal. Earlier this month, Parthenon and Lovell completed their buy of H.D. Vest.

Covidien (NYSE: COV) has sold its U.S. radiopharmacy network to Triad Isotopes Inc., an Orlando, Fla.-based provider of radiopharmaceuticals that are used for both diagnostic imaging procedures and disease treatment. Seaside National Bank & Trust, an Orlando, Fla.-based commercial bank, has raised over $40 million in private equity funding. Lovell Minnick Partners, Parthenon Capital and Continental Investors each invested $15 million, and were joined by existing shareholders.

Intermedix Corp., provider of billing services to emergency medical service providers in Texas, has acquired HRA Medical Management Inc., a San Diego-based provider of emergency physician and hospitalist billing services to medical practice groups. No financial terms were disclosed. Intermedix is a portfolio company of Parthenon Capital.
