Zoove Gets $15M From Rogers Ventures, Panorama, Other VCs

Rogers Ventures, the venture capital arm of Rogers Communications Inc., joined Panorama Capital in a US$15 million Series E financing of New York-based Zoove Corp., which operates StarStar and StarStarMe, a mobile phone number service. The company also received investment from Worldview Technology Partners and Highland Capital Partners. The new funds will support Zoove’s continued growth, with emphasis on product expansion, business development and marketing.

Scribble Technologies Seals $4M

Scribble Technologies Inc. has closed on $4 million in new financing led by Summerhill Venture Partners. Rogers Ventures, an existing early stage investor, also participated in the financing. The company, a provider of real-time content publishing and delivery, will use the infusion to expand its sales, marketing and software development.

Rogers Ventures Backs Zoove with $5M

Rogers Ventures, the venture capital arm of Canada’s Rogers Communications Inc., has put $5 million into Zoove. The infusion is in addition to the $15 million in Series D financing Zoove closed last month. The company is also backed by Cardinal Venture Capital, Worldview Technology Partners and Highland Capital Partners.

Payfone Inks $19M For Mobile Payments

Mobile payment start-up Payfone has added $19 million in strategic funding from American Express, Verizon Investments Inc., Rogers Ventures, and from existing shareholders Opus Capital, BlackBerry Partners Fund and RRE Ventures. The money is designed to help Payfone continue product development and global expansion. Formed in 2008, Payfone’s technology is designed to make mobile phones a preferred way to make online payments, opening up payment options to the non-credit-card world and bridging the gap in emerging markets, the company says.
