Scale leads $11 mln round in PubNub

San Francisco-based PubNub announced it has raised an $11 million Series B round that was led by Scale Venture Partners. Existing investors Relay Ventures and TiE Angels also participated in the round. PubNub has now raised $15.5 million in total funding. As part of the investment, Andy Vitus, a partner at ScaleVP, has joined the board. The company provides a cloud infrastructure for apps to enable dashboards and streams, collaboration and 2nd screen synchronization on iOS, Android and other platforms.

RingCentral Files For IPO

RingCentral, Inc. said it filed for an IPO. The company’s S-1 registration statement says the number of shares to be offered and their price range have yet to be released publicly. Its backers include Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Cisco Systems, DAG Ventures and Hermes Growth Partners.

Box Chooses SDL to Accelerate International Growth

SDL has been selected by UK-based Box, a provider of online storage and collaboration software, as its preferred partner to expand into new international markets. Box is backed by venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Emergence Capital Partners, General Atlantic, Meritech Capital Partners, NEA, Scale Venture Partners and U.S. Venture Partners and strategic investors salesforce.com and SAP.

Big Data Company DataStax Raises $45M Series D

DataStax, which provides a big data platform built on Apache Cassandra, has raised $45 million in Series D funding. The round was led by Scale Venture Partners with participation from existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Crosslink Capital and Meritech Capital Partners and new investors DFJ Growth and Next World Capital. The company has now raised about $110 million in total funding since it was founded in early 2010.

VC Fundraising Slows in Q2

U.S. venture capital firms raised just under $3 billion in the second quarter, with more than half of the money going to five established VCs, according to a report from the National Venture Capital Association and Thomson Reuters.

PeopleMatter Raises $19M, Led by Scale Venture Partners

PeopleMatter, a Charleston, S.C.-based maker of HR software, has raised $19 million in Series B funding, led by Scale Venture Partners, whose partner, Rob Theis, has joined the board. Previous PeopleMatter investors Intersouth Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, Harbert Venture Partners, Noro-Moseley Partners, C&B Capital and Silicon Valley Bank also contributed to the funding.
