Kickstart Launches $26M Fund II to Serve Utah Startups

Kickstart Seed Fund has closed on a $26 million second fund focused on early stage technology investments in Utah. That is more than twice the amount that Managing Director Gavin Christensen raised for his first fund in 2008. He has added Clarke Miyasaki as a GP and Alex Soffe as CFO to help manage the fund.

Aspen Avionics Closes Funding Round

Aspen Avionics has closed a $12.8 million round of financing. All of Aspen’s previous investors, including Granite Ventures, Sun Mountain Capital, Signal Peak Ventures, EPIC Ventures, Fort Washington Capital Partners and New Mexico Community Capital participated.

C7 Data Centers Secures Debt and Equity Funds

C7 Data Centers, a provider of advanced IT and data center outsourcing services, has secured $25 million in debt and equity funding. MCG Capital Corporation and previous investment partner Signal Peak Ventures provided the new funding. Past investors in the business include Canopy Ventures and Zions First National Bank.

Solera Networks said it raised $20 million in a Series D financing led by Intel Capital and joined by existing investors Allegis Capital, Signal Peak Ventures and Trident Capital. Former Canopy Pros Launch Signal Peak Ventures

Signal Peak Ventures was formed by Ron Heinz and Brandon Tidwell, former Canopy Group pros, and acquired substantially all of Canopy’s ventures. StepStone Group led a group of LPs that backed the fund. Heinz said Signal Peak is in the process of relocating to permanent headquarters in Salt Lake City.
