SJF Ventures Raises $90M for Third Fund, Tripling Size of Prior Fund

SJF Ventures has held a final close on its $90 million for its third fund, raising more than three times the amount of its second fund, which totaled $28 million, the firm announced Thursday. Investors in the new fund include CitiDeutsche Bank, MetLife, Prudential Financial, Cambridge Associates, Mercer Consulting, and Trillium Asset Management, SJF said in a press release.

Optoro Closes Series A Led by Grotech

Technology company Optoro has closed a Series A-1 round of $7.5 million in venture funding led by Grotech Ventures. Previous investors SJF Ventures and QED also participated in the round. This brings Optoro’s total funding since inception to nearly $10 million.

eRecyclingCorps Seals $35M Led by KPCB

Texas-based eRecyclingCorps, the developer of an in-store credit platform for recycling wireless devices, has raised $35 million in a new round led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. ERC launched in 2009, and previously raised capital from OpenAir Equity Partners and SJF Ventures.

FieldView Solutions Adds $2M

FieldView Solutions, a maker of data center infrastructure management software, has closed on $2 million in fresh capital from SJF Ventures, Milestone Venture Partners and Osage Venture Partners. The money will help the company expand its development team, among other efforts. Edison, New Jersey-based Fieldview closed a $2.75 million Series A round in 2009.

Community Energy raises $4M Series A

Community Energy, Inc, raised $4m in a Series A round of funding, led by SJF Ventures, a venture capital fund with offices in Durham, NC, New York and san Francisco. NGP Energy Technology Partners also invested. The deal includes an option to invest another $2 million. Community Energy will use the funds to develop solar energy projects in the Northeast, Mid-West, and West.
