Solar Power Co. SunRun Adds Financing from U.S. Bancorp

Solar electricity company SunRun has raised an undisclosed amount of financing from U.S. Bancorp. The financing is designed to fund 1,900 installations of SunRun’s residential solar power systems. The San Francisco-based start-up has previously raised about $300 million in project financing from U.S. Bancorp and PG&E. The company is also backed by $85 million in venture capital from Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, and Foundation Capital.

SunRun, a San Francisco-based provider of residential solar electricity, has raised $55 million in Series C funding. Sequoia Capital led the round, and was joined by return backers Accel Partners and Foundation Capital.

The company previously raised $30 million in VC funding. It also secured a tax equity commitment from a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp that is part of the financing needed to develop $90 million in residential solar installations in 2010.
