TA, Updata Bid for Nintex

TA Associates and Updata Partners said Wednesday they plan to make a “significant” investment in Nintex Group. Financial terms were not announced. Nintex, of Melbourne, Australia, is a software provider. Macquarie Capital is currently a Nintex investor. The Wall Street Journal said the consortium’s offer for Nintex was valued at US$222 million. Spurrier Capital Partners and Macquarie provided advisory services to Nintex.

Hong Kong-based global network and satellite communications service provider SpeedCast has completed a buyout of Elektrikom Satellite Services, a maritime satellite communications service provider based in the Netherlands. TA Associates is SpeedCast’s majority shareholder.

Reuters – Franklin Resources Buys Hedge Fund Firm K2

Mutual fund giant Franklin Resources said it will buy a majority stake in funds of hedge funds K2 Associates, writes Reuters. Franklin, which oversees roughly $731 billion in assets, will pay an undisclosed amount for the bulk of K2, which manages $9.3 billion. K2 will use the proceeds to buy back a stake in itself from TA Associates and to retire all of its deb obligations, writes Reuters.
