Act-On raises $42 mln in deal led by TCV

Act-On Software, a developer of marketing automation software, has raised $42 million in new funding led by Technology Crossover Ventures. Existing investors Norwest Venture Partners, Trinity Ventures, US Venture Partners and Voyager Capital also participated. Act-On previously raised $32 million in funding since it was founded in 2008. As part of the funding, David Yuan, general partner at TCV, has joined the board.

Simply Measured gets $20 mln for expansion

Simply Measured has raised a $20 million Series C round of funding led by Trinity Ventures with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Four Rivers Group, MHS Capital and other existing investors. Karan Mehandru, general partner at Trinity Ventures, will join the board of directors at Simply Measured.

Crowdfunding platform Fundable buys VC-backed LaunchRock

Business crowdfunding platform Fundable has acquired LaunchRock. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Walnut, Calif., LaunchRock helps startups launch their businesses. Its backers include 500 Startups, Venture51, Quotidian Ventures and Trinity Ventures.

College app Blend raises $2.7 mln, Ohio State students need not apply

New Enterprise Associates has led a $2.7 million seed round in Blend, a San Francisco-based maker of a social networking app for college students. Trinity Ventures, Foundation Capital, Lerer Ventures, Maveron, BoxGroup, XG Ventures and SparkLabs Global Ventures also joined in the seed round. The app is available for students in more than 3,500 universities nationwide, except those from Ohio State University. Blend co-founder and CEO Akash Nigam attended the University of Michigan before dropping out and launching Blend. As such, the company doesn’t allow students from rival school Ohio State to sign up for the app.

Trinity leads Hoopla’s Series B

Hoopla, which develops sales performance improvement software, has raised $8 million in a Series B round of funding led by Trinity Ventures. Existing investors Safeguard Scientifics and Illuminate Ventures also participated in the round. The San Jose, Calif.-based company has now raised $10.8 million in total funding, having raised a $2.8 million Series A round in mid-2012. As part of the Series B round, Larry Orr, general partner of Trinity, has joined the board.

Greylock leads $15 mln funding of open source project provider Docker

Docker, which runs an open source project used by cloud developers and operators to automate the deployment of apps, said it has completed raising a $15 million Series B round of funding. Greylock Partners led the round, which also included Insight Venture Partners, Benchmark Capital, Trinity Ventures and Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang. As part of the funding, Jerry Chen, a partner at Greylock, will join the board.

View the Space raises funds

Commercial real estate software company View The Space has raised $7 million in funding to expand its footprint and software platform. The round was led by Trinity Ventures. Tom Byrne (former President and COO of Loopnet), Ben Ling (former head of eCommerce at Google), Greg Waldorf (founding investor & Board member at Trulia) and Seed Fund, 500 Startups also participated in the funding.
