OATV Raises $84.5 Million for Third Fund

O’Reilly AlphTech Ventures, or OATV, has secured $84.5 million for a third fund, according to an SEC filing that was processed this morning. The filing states that 51 investors have participated in the fund, and that it intends to raise another $450,000, which will bring its total funding to $85 million.

“I’ve thought about writing a blog. I’ve thought a lot about it, but that’s not really me,” said Mike Kwatinetz, dipping into an omelet yesterday at Bob’s Steak & Chop House, an old-school San Francisco eatery. “I can’t help but feel there are better uses of my time.”

The sentiment wasn’t surprising coming from Kwatinetz, who co-founded the tech-focused venture firm Azure Capital Partners in 2000 with several other former investment bankers, all of whom once reported to star banker Frank Quattrone.

TripIt Raises $7 Million

TripIt, a San Francisco-based provider of a platform that lets individuals and businesses organize and share their travel plans, has raised $7 million in Series C funding co-led by Azure Capital Partners and return backer OATV. The company had previously raised $6.1 million, including a $5.1 Series B million round from OATV, Sabre Holdings and Europeean Founders Fund.
