Christopher Alden, co-founder of the original Red Herring magazine, cofounder of the RSS reading service Rojo Networks, and later CEO and chairman of the blogging software concern Six Apart, has joined San Francisco-based Tugboat Ventures.

Universum Development has acquired career networking platform Doostang, the company announced Tuesday. Doostang, based in Palo Alto, Calif., had raised venture funding from Shasta Ventures and Tugboat Ventures and individual investors. Formed in 2005, the company targets young business professionals and has about 900,000 members, it says. Terms of the deal were not released.

Ifeelgoods, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based startup that helps brands implement incentive programs, including on Facebook, using its Facebook Credits virtual currency, has landed a $6.5 million Series A round led by the European venture firm Idinvest Partners, formerly known as AGF Private Equity.
