SolarEdge Technologies Seals $37M

SolarEdge Technologies Inc., an Israeli provider of end-to-end solar power optimization and PV monitoring technology, has raised $37 million in venture capital. Norwest Venture Partners led the round, which is aimed at expanding the company’s reach and bolstering production plans. Existing investors Opus Capital, Walden International, Genesis Partners, Vertex Venture Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners and GE also participated in the round.

Leyden Energy Closes on $20M

Leyden Energy, a maker of lithium-ion batteries for the consumer electronics, energy storage and electric vehicle markets, has closed on $20 million in Series B financing led by New Enterprise Associates. Lightspeed Ventures, Sigma Partners and Walden International also joined in the round. The company will use the cash infusion to expand production of its suite of batteries, increase company staff and fund its future development of advanced battery technologies.

Gimv, Others Exit Investment in Plexxikon

Daiichi Sankyo has agreed to buy Plexxikon for $805 million, providing an exit for venture investors including Belgian firm GIMV. Future milestone payments could total an additional $130 million, the company said. Plexxikon develops novel small molecule pharmaceuticals to treat human disease. Gimv first invested in Plexxikon during a series B financing in 2002. The company is also backed by Alta Partners, ATV, Walden International, Pappas Ventures and CW Ventures.
