Nomadesk, a maker of cloud storage and file sharing software, has raised $7 million from new investor BAMS Angel Fund and existing shareholder Gimv. Nomadesk is based in Ghent, Belgium, and will use the Series B financing to expand into North America.
Nomadesk, developer of the easiest and most secure cloud storage and file sharing software, today announced the closing of a 7 million dollar, or 5 million Euro, “B-series” investment round with new investor BAMS Angel Fund and existing shareholder Gimv.
Nomadesk, who already boasts strong partnerships with Belgian operators Telenet and Hostbasket, US-based Novatel Wireless and Canada’s leading operator Bell, will use the funds to accelerate the growth of its indirect business and further internationalize its team, especially in North America.
The company also appointed a new board of directors. On behalf of BAMS Angel Fund, Mr. Yvan Morel (former Managing Director of EDS BeLux) and Mr. Bart Luyten join the board.
“We are convinced that Nomadesk has built the team and product to tap into the growing cloud storage and collaboration market. What’s more, the company has a strong pipeline of partners that can accelerate the company’s growth. As a technology fund we want to be front and center while this software-as-a- service market takes shape. We are pleased to participate in the investment and to be part of Nomadesk’s success”, says Bart Luyten, General Partner of BAMS Angels Fund II.
“Gimv has been supporting Nomadesk since 2007. The company has demonstrated success by offering a robust and secure enterprise-quality storage and file sharing service to small and medium businesses. There’s a clear market demand. With the current funding we can make Nomadesk scale via strong, strategic partnerships”, says Alex Brabers, Executive Vice President Technology of Gimv
“We are happy with this vote of confidence from our new and existing investors. Nomadesk has a lot going for it. Mobility continues to play a key role in enabling companies to achieve greater productivity worldwide. Overall, we see the need for new types of value added SaaS increasing due to workforce mobility, virtual offices, synchronization of multiple devices, data loss protection, etc. Analysts, such as Sean Ryan from IDC’s Mobile Enterprise group, expect the global mobile worker population to grow beyond 1.19B in 2013, which is nearly 35% of the worldwide
workforce. We have the service, team and funding to adequately respond to the need of these ‘nomadic’ workers”, says Filip Tack, founder and CEO of Nomadesk.
