Salesforce.com announced it has agreed to buy Toronto-based Rypple, a provider of human resources software-as-a-service. Rypple, which has raised $13 million in funding from Bridgescale Partners, Edgestone Capital Ventures and Extreme Venture Partners, including a $7 million Series B round last year. Individual investors of Rypple include Peter Thiel (an early Facebook investor) and Roger Martin (who serves as director of Thomson Reuters, publisher of peHUB.com). The acquisition of Rypple is expected to close in April. Rypple, which has an office in San Francisco near Salesforce headquarters, will then be relaunched as Successforce as part of a new HCM division led by enterprise software veteran John Wookey. The acquisition comes a couple of weeks after SAP bought HR software provider SuccessFactors.
