May 1st, 2012, San Francisco, CA – PlaySay Inc., a 2011 TechCrunch Disrupt Finalist, launches their new app today. The new iPhone app is a first-of-its-kind game that connects language learners so they can have real conversations with pronunciation feedback. The iPhone app is the culmination of the company’s four years of business in the language learning space.
The company is backed by Kevin Yu, former director of PayPal Japan; Sean Glass, founder of Higher One; and Novak Biddle Venture Partners, the most active VC investors in the education space nationally. The company has raised a total of $820,000 to date. “We’re very excited about PlaySay’s potential,” said Phil Bronner, general partner at Novak Biddle Venture Partners.
PlaySay also announced today that it has secured a content licensing deal with HarperCollins, the largest foreign language dictionary publisher of the world. The company currently has a content licensing deal with McGraw-Hill Professional, one of the largest publishers of language learning books and materials. PlaySay’s Premium Content Users will soon be able to access professional publisher content to further enhance their language learning.
