Rest of World Not as Bullish About Venture Capital as Silicon Valley VCs: Poll

Perpetually bullish Silicon Valley venture capitalists are more optimistic than those who live outside their bubble.

After seeing the latest results for the Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index, we wondered if the rest of the world is as confident as Silicon Valley VCs. According to our poll of 190 peHUB readers, the answer is no.

The average rating in our poll was 3.2 on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest.

The peHUB rating is substantially lower than the 3.79 score in the Q1 Confidence Index, which was the highest point in the past four quarters.

We asked readers to “rate their confidence in the VC business for the next six to 18 months (with 5 indicating the highest confidence).” Most of the 190 people who voted (29.5%) answered “3.” The next largest group (23.2%) answered “4,” while 18.4% answered “5.” Balancing out the boosters, nearly 18% of those surveyed answered “2” and about 11% answered “1.” The average score came to 3.20.
