Slideshow: Lookin’ Good Dallas Buyouts!

About three hundred private equity executives gathered for the Buyouts conference in Dallas earlier this week.

The meeting started out with Kevin Conway, the Clayton, Dubilier & Rice’s managing partner, who spoke about how the private equity industry needs to do a better job explaining itself. Steve Judge, Private Equity Growth Capital Council’s president and CEO, gave his views on Dodd-Frank and the Volcker rule. Bankers and PE execs also talked about the lack of deals this year that was offset by the rise of dividend recaps.

The big topic? Oil. The U.S. is expected to surpass Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest oil producer by as early as 2020. PE execs like First Reserve’s Jeffrey Quake and Encap Investments David Miller spoke about the rise of oil investments (EnCap is also out fundraising for their latest fund which has a $5 billion hard cap but is getting $8 billion worth of interest, peHUB has reported.) PE execs, along with peHUB and Buyouts staff, also gathered for cocktails later.
