New York private equity firm Pine Brook has promoted three staffers. Edward Donkor and Ted Maa have been promoted to principal on the energy investment team while Scott Schaen has been upped to principal on the financial services investment team.
NEW YORK—January 8, 2014—Pine Brook, a New York-based investment firm focused on building businesses in the financial services and energy sectors, today announced Edward Donkor and Ted Maa have been promoted to principal on the energy investment team and Scott Schaen has been promoted to principal on the financial services investment team.
Mr. Donkor, who has been with Pine Brook since October 2010 and has nine years of investment experience, represents the firm as a director of GR Energy Services Holdings, LLC. He has worked on a number of the firm’s energy investments, including Brigham Resources, LLC and Source Energy Partners, LP. He joined Pine Brook from First Reserve Corporation, where he was an associate specializing in investment opportunities in oilfield services, power generation, energy infrastructure and renewables. Mr. Donkor holds a B.A. in Economics and Computer Science from Macalester College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Maa, who joined Pine Brook in July 2012 and has eight years of investment experience, represents the firm as a director of Comet Ridge Resources, LLC and Saguaro Resources Ltd. He has also been involved in a number of the firm’s other energy investments, including Common Resources III, LLC and Elevation Resources Holdings, LLC. He came to Pine Brook from Denham Capital Management, LP, where he was a vice president specializing in energy infrastructure and oilfield services investment opportunities. Mr. Maa holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Schaen, who has been with Pine Brook since August 2010 and has nine years of investment experience, represents the firm as a director of Green Bancorp, Inc. He has also worked on other financial services investments, including Global Atlantic Financial Group and NBIC Holdings, Inc. He joined Pine Brook from Lightyear Capital, a middle-market private equity investor in financial services, where he was a senior associate specializing in executing and monitoring investments in the financial services industry. Mr. Schaen holds a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
