Architizer has raised $2 million in seed financing. The investors included Gaspar Global Ventures. In addition to the funding, Andy Gaspar has been added to the company’s board. Based in New York City, Architizer is an online resource for architects.
Architizer, the leading online resource for architects, today announced that it has secured $2 million in seed financing from a group of experienced angels. The financing includes participation by investors Alessandro Piol, Joanne Wilson, Gaspar Global Ventures and several prominent family offices. Andy Gaspar has joined the Architizer Board to represent the new investor group joining Directors Ari Kushner, Marc Kushner and Peter Gerber.
The financing is testament to Architizer’s rapid growth since relaunching in July and allows the platform to expand its offerings to architects and the building product manufacturers that they specify. There are 30,000+ American and European architecture firms registered on Architizer and since where they can find building products based on what their colleagues have used.
“Architects specify more than $200 billion worth of products a year in the United States alone.” explains Marc Kushner, CEO of Architizer. “Knowing what products their colleagues have used empowers architects to make informed choices, revolutionizing how they do their work. This financing lets us accelerate our growth plans to become the onestop shop for architects to explore, collect and source the world’s best architecture.”
Investor Joanne Wilson explains that, “Getting things built is an incredibly opaque process. With sites like Yelp, today’s architects know more about the $5 sandwich they eat for lunch than they do about the million dollar window systems they specify for their designs. Architizer harnesses the industry’s shared knowledge to become a recommendation engine at the scale of skyscrapers and mult-imilliondollar libraries.”
Architizer is the largest online source for the world’s architecture. Launched in 2009, the site hosts 51,000+ projects by 30,000+ firms. Architizer has over 2 million social media followers. In 2013 Architizer produced the first annual A+ Awards, now the largest architecture award program in the world and it won the HELM prize to move to Lower Manhattan.
