Om Malik, founder of the news site Gigaom and a journalist for more than 20 years, said he has become a partner at True Ventures and will give up his day-to-day reporting duties. He had previously been a venture partner at the firm.

He also noted that Gigaom raised $8 million in new funds in a deal led by Shea Ventures and joined by existing investors True, Alloy Ventures and Reed Elsevier Ventures.
