Ulmon has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Global Founders Capital. Based in Vienna, Austria, Ulmon is a mobile travel platform.
Vienna, 11 March 2014: Ulmon has closed a round of funding with Global Founders Capital, the venture capital firm run by Marc and Oliver Samwer along with former Delivery Hero co-founder Fabian Siegel.
The investment comes on top of last year’s strong growth numbers. Ulmon’s apps have been downloaded 6 million times on iOS and Google Play in 2013 alone, making Ulmon the #1 travel guide publisher in 2013 according to “App Annie Intelligence” data.
“After just three years of operations, we became the fastest growing mobile travel guide publisher. We aim to be the best travel partner for our customers every trip and we can see in user activity and retention data how well this customer-centric approach is paying off. We will use this first outside investment of a small seven-digit Euro amount to make our unique value proposition available to an increasing number of travelers worldwide”, explains Florian Kandler, Co-Founder and COO of Ulmon.
“We have been impressed by the traction the team developed over the past year, becoming a global leader for mobile travel guides with no outside investment. We are looking forward to supporting the team now as they accelerate their growth through our global network”, says Fabian Siegel, Partner at Global Founders Capital.
Ulmon’s most famous product is top-selling travel app CityMaps2Go. CityMaps2Go is a global travel guide app that allows travelers to plan trips and use the app on trips for orientation and information.
core strengths of the product are:
· a proprietary offline map rendering technology based on OpenStreetMap
· a data aggregation framework for freely available web data
· personalization of the product experience by leveraging user generated content and implicit user interactions in the apps
