Midwest venture firm Drive Capital has hired Nick Solaro as a partner. Previously, Solaro worked at Google where he developed Android‘s strategic partnerships worldwide.
Columbus, OH – Drive Capital has named Nick Solaro — former Google executive responsible for building Android’s strategic partnerships globally — as the newest partner of the Midwest venture capital firm. The addition is a move that will help Drive accelerate investments in the mobile technology space.
“Nick’s background at Google and entrepreneurial expertise will be invaluable to the firm as we continue to partner with Midwest companies and founders developing innovative mobile technologies,” said Mark Kvamme, Drive Capital’s co-founder.
At Drive Capital, Solaro will be responsible for identifying and executing new investments in companies participating in the mobile revolution. Prior to joining Drive, Solaro spent four years at Google within Global Android Business Development. In this role, he developed and negotiated key partnerships with silicon companies, device manufacturers, mobile operators, and retailers, the results of which helped grow the Android business to billions of devices worldwide. Before Google, he spent close to a decade as an investor and entrepreneur in the technology space.
“Coming from Google and Android, I know what it feels like to be in a hyper-growth environment. I see all of the raw ingredients necessary to create similar levels of world-changing outcomes here in the Midwest. I am thrilled to join Drive Capital and help provide entrepreneurs the capital and support needed to make these sorts of results happen,” said Solaro.
Drive Capital’s addition of Solaro marks the third partner joining the team within the past two months.
“Nick has cultivated strong, enduring personal and professional networks that will play a key role in supporting Drive’s world-class portfolio companies,” said Chris Olsen, Drive Capital’s co-founder. “We couldn’t be happier to have someone with such impressive experience and background joining the team.”
