Sean E. Hayes and Edward (Ted) F. Ughetta have joined Nixon Peabody’s private equity team. Nixon Peabody advises institutional investors, private equity funds and portfolio companies globally.
Sean E. Hayes and Edward (Ted) F. Ughetta are the latest additions to Nixon Peabody’s formidable private equity team. Their experience with private equity transactions and fund formation adds to Nixon Peabody’s resume as a nationally ranked private equity practice.
“Sean and Ted are known quantities in the private equity space and a great fit with the energy and drive of our team,” said John J. Koeppel, Head of Private Equity Funds for Nixon Peabody. “We’re all about making connections and doing deals in the private equity marketplace, and they have experience and relationships that will power up those efforts significantly in New York.”
Sean counsels private equity firms and financial institutions on strategy and tactics for mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and fund formation—in the U.S. and globally. His experience with cross border transactions and knowledge of leveraged finance are additional assets he offers middle market companies navigating financing, refinancing, recapitalization, private equity funding or going public.
With a strong focus on fund formation, Ted represents both private equity/venture fund sponsors and institutional investors. He helps private equity, mezzanine, distressed debt and other sponsor groups navigate fundraising, investments and internal administrative matters. Ted also represents institutional investors and asset managers including tax-exempt foundations and ERISA investors in their private equity and venture capital investment programs.

He earned his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Cornell University and received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University.
