Harald Quandt Capital has appointed David Pierce as a managing director and head of Asia. HQ Capital represents three financial services businesses – Auda International, Equita Management and Real Estate Capital Partners focused on investments in private equity and real estate.
Harald Quandt Capital (“HQ Capital), a private investment group owned by the Harald Quandt Family of Germany, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Pierce as a Managing Director and Head of Asia.
“David Pierce is an exceptionally experienced private markets investor,” said Axel May, a member of the HQ Capital Board. “We are fortunate to have been able to bring him onto our team to help us grow our alternative investment firms, with a focus on developing investors and businesses in Asia.”
HQ Capital represents three financial services businesses – Auda International, Equita Management and Real Estate Capital Partners — focused on investments in private equity and real estate. The businesses represented by HQ Capital together have approximately US$12 billion in assets under management.

Pierce, who has three decades of experience in Asia, more than half of which has been in private equity, was previously a Partner with FLAG Squadron Asia and was the founding Chief Executive Officer of Squadron Capital, based in Hong Kong. Prior to the formation of Squadron Capital in 2006, Pierce was Senior Managing Director of Search Investment Group, a Hong Kong-based family investment office, with responsibility for the family’s global portfolio of direct investments and private equity funds.
Active in various industry bodies, Pierce is currently chair of the Asia Council of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association and was chair of the Hong Kong Venture Capital & Private Equity Association from 2010-12.
A qualified lawyer who started his career during the 1980s structuring investments in China, Pierce holds an LLM from the London School of Economics, a JD cum laude from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Dartmouth College.
