Tel Aviv, July 8th, 2014 — GetYou (http://getyou.com/), a social feedback platform that enables users to discover how strangers and friends perceive them, launched in beta on iOS and Android today. The company raised $1.1 million in seed funding from venture capital firm RDSeed and angel investors, including Wix founder Avishai Abrahami.
GetYou aims to create a new paradigm in social input, allowing users to submit feedback and impressions on the social graph via interactive gaming mechanisms rather than in “comment” or “like” format.
The platform’s first application is a mobile game that uses semi-anonymous feedback mechanisms to bridge first impression gaps. The app presents a member’s picture, upon which a user answers a series of fun questions, such as, “How old do you think he is?” or “Do you think she is a DJ or brain surgeon?” Results are analyzed and presented, allowing the displayed member to discover people’s perceptions of his or her personality traits, occupation, age and other criteria.
Users can decide to friend others who judged them. Simultaneously, those who judged and were inaccurate receive an intuition score and are presented with the true information, in many cases breaking down stereotypes and preconceptions. The goal: to bridge first impression gaps.
“To date, the only feedback mechanism on the social web is through public comments and likes. GetYou presents a new semi-anonymous platform that will enable our community to give and receive, both by helping us see how others may falsely judge us, as well as showing us how we too can jump to misinformed conclusions,” said GetYou founder and CEO Dr. Orit Mossinson.
“GetYou wants to make the world a better place by fixing the judgmental, wrong first impression crisis in a fun way. We are all guilty of making assumptions about people, based on first impressions. This crisis of false judgment is exactly what we are going to fix with our engaging, interactive game, the first application of our social feedback technology,” added Mossinson
