Columbia Capital closes venture fund at $500 mln hard cap


Columbia Capital closed its latest venture capital fund, Columbia Capital Equity Partners VI, at its $500 million hard cap, exceeding its $425 million target. Columbia targets investments between $15 million to $40 million in internet infrastructure, mobility, enterprise cloud, cyber security and media.

ALEXANDRIA, VA; February 16, 2016 – Columbia Capital announced that during the fourth quarter of 2015 the Firm closed its latest venture capital fund, Columbia Capital Equity Partners VI at $500 million. The Fund exceeded its target of $425 million and reached its hard cap. This fundraising brings the Firm’s cumulative committed capital to nearly $3 billion.

Founded in 1989, Columbia is a sector-focused firm specializing in internet infrastructure, mobility, enterprise cloud, cyber security and media.  The firm typically deploys $15 million to $40 million of equity capital per investment. Consistent with prior funds, the investment team will create a significant majority of Columbia VI’s investments by identifying market opportunities and partnering with proven executives to build companies to capitalize on the organic growth in its dynamic industry segments.  Over its 25-year history, Columbia has invested $2.5 billion in more than 100 companies.
