PRESS RELEASE

Honolulu, Hawaii: Hobnob, a start-up reimagining the traditional invite model by offering beautifully designed, text-based event invites in under 60-seconds is announcing a seed financing round of $2.25M today.

The Seed Investors include Norwest Venture Partners, Aspect Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Greycroft, who are attracted to Hobnob’s design, efficiency, and signature ‘app-less’ approach that allows users to interact with the service via text, mobile web, or the native app.

“Hobnob allows people to have the discussions they’re already having in a simple, beautifully designed and unified experience. Hobnob is built for facilitating offline interactions and preserving connections that are made through the event process,” remarks Principal at Aspect Ventures Lauren Kolodny. “After brainstorming about the way people are already using messaging for communication leading up to, during and after events, this was a no brainer to invest.”

Hobnob puts the user experience ahead of the ‘almighty download’ so guests can have a rich and seamless mobile experience – chatting, RSVP’ing, or sharing event photos – whether using the app, mobile web, or their native messaging client, for any event large or small.

“Social events have always been some of the most intimate occasions in our lives,” says Jeff Crowe, managing partner at Norwest Venture Partners. “As our online social networks continue to ever expand, we view Hobnob’s beautiful mobile-first approach as the next iteration of bringing together our closest contacts and fostering deeper connections before and after events.”

Serial Entrepreneur Tina Fitch started up Hobnob with one goal in mind: to remove the friction of real life gatherings, encouraging personal interactions offline with the people and causes you care about. With the latest statistics around event-based media creation seeing more than 100% MoM growth, Hobnob users are a diverse demographic not only in major cities of the USA, but across ‘heartland’ (e.g. the South, Midwest) communities, as well; the company is seeing more than 40% MoM growth within its user base.

“The way hosts and guests across the country are embracing Hobnob shows that people still prioritize real world personal connections and are in need of a more efficient and fun way to gather” says Fitch, Hobnob’s CEO and co-founder. “We’re thrilled to be working with an incredible roster of investors who have deep experience in both consumer and mobile.”

With the seed financing, Hobnob is expecting to launch an Android version within 2016, expand the company’s employee base, add to their invite design catalogue, and continue to add features that use data and language intelligence to further strip out the inefficiencies of socializing in the analog world. Stay tuned.
