venBio collects $288 mln toward second venture fund


Healthcare investment firm venBio Partners LLC raised $288 million from 22 LPs toward a $303 million venture fund, according to an SEC filing.

The target on venBio Global Strategic Fund II LP was increased from a March 2015 filing, which set a goal of $250 million for the fund.

VenBio, which has offices in San Francisco and New York, typically invests in clinical-stage life science companies with a therapeutic product.  In addition to venture capital funds, the firm manages a long-short equity hedge fund.
