500 Startups said that General Motors has struck an arrangement to work with companies at its accelerator and perhaps invest as they mature out of the program.
The collaboration will begin in January with 500 Startup’s batch 20, according to a blog post. It is the firm’s first corporate seed program partner, and about five companies will be selected for a specialized GM track.
Technology sectors of interest to GM include machine learning, mobility services, virtual reality and robotics.
Companies will gain access to GM’s knowledge of the automotive market place. The car maker will consider follow-on funding, according to the blog post.
