Gamut Capital, founded by ex-Apollo execs, raises $1 bln for maiden fund

Pile of money

New York-based Gamut Capital Management, a middle-market private equity firm, has closed its inaugural fund at $1 billion, beating its initial $750 million target.

Gamut Investment Fund I’s will focus on leveraged buyouts, corporate carve-outs, strategic partnerships and distressed-for-control situations. It is planning on making investments between $50 million and $150 million in the agriculture, chemicals, telecom, industrials, mining, power, distribution, technology, energy and transportation sectors.

UBS Private Funds Group was the placement agent while Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP provided legal advice.

Launched in 2015, Gamut was founded by Stan Parker and Jordan Zaken, former senior partners at Apollo Global Management.
