Digital grocer Farmstead raises $2.8 mln seed round

San Mateo, California-based Farmstead, an artificial intelligence-powered digital that delivers local food, announced it has raised $2.8 million in seed-stage funding from Resolute Ventures, Social Capital, Y Combinator and Liquid 2 Ventures, the venture firm of NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana. Farmstead does not pack and deliver groceries from large warehouses in remote. instead, the company uses AI-powered algorithms to predict how much food to order from local sources, which it says helps reduce waste.  For more information, visit www.farmsteadapp.com/about.
