GI Partners racks up $2.7 bln for fifth fund

GI Partners, a middle market private equity firm, has closed its oversubscribed fifth fund at $2.7 billion, beating its $2.3 billion target.

GI Partners Fund V will focus on investing in companies that have enterprise values between $250 million and $1 billion. Fund V will target several sectors, including IT infrastructure, healthcare, software and services. UBS Securities LLC was the placement agent for Fund V, while Kirkland & Ellis LP served as legal counsel.

The firm’s investors include pensions, sovereign wealth funds, investment management firms, financial institutions, family offices, endowments, and foundations.

In April 2014, GI Partners closed its fourth fund on its $2 billion hard cap. No performance data was available on Fund IV.
