SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Empiric Health today announced Justin Schaper has joined the firm as Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Schaper will lead the design and creation of innovative software applications designed to help health systems identify variations in procedures and improve outcomes using proprietary analytics to facilitate data-driven insights.

Mr. Schaper brings more than two decades of success in delivering creative and insightful technology solutions to healthcare with an emphasis on Analytics. Most recently, he was the Senior Vice President of Analytics for Intermedix, tasked with leading a new business unit dedicated to applying advanced analytics to healthcare clients. He was responsible for developing new products, enhancing existing products, establishing analytics capabilities including machine learning, and crafting the firm’s strategic direction and its enterprise-wide analytics vision.

He was also Chief Information Officer for PSR which was acquired by Intermedix. At PSR, he planned and implemented all information systems, including both internal operations and external client services for the practice management division, supporting 2500+ clinicians nationally. He developed an innovative web-based Emergency Medicine physician quality improvement program, resulting in 50% decrease in patient readmissions.

“Empiric has solved the problem of presenting quality and cost data to physicians in a way that is actionable, insightful, and meaningful in the context of their individual practice,” said Mr. Schaper. “Using data that allows them to see true apple-to-apple comparisons with other physicians in order to make informed decisions about delivery of the highest quality care at the right cost. I’m very excited to be part of a team that supports physicians in their pursuit of excellence.

“Empiric is based on a four year program at Intermountain Healthcare where surgery outcomes were improved while at the same time saving over $90 million,” states Rick Adam, Empiric CEO. “The process combines intensive clinical consulting with a precision surgery analytics system. We are very pleased to have such a strong technology leader join our team to further develop the system.”
