Knowhere, a San Francisco and London-based news publication that uses machine learning to write unbiased coverage of news stories, launched its website and emerged from stealth mode with $1.8 million in seed funding. Investors include CrunchFund, Day One Ventures, Danhua Capital, Struck Capital and Abstract Ventures.
Knowhere’s technology searches the internet, evaluates narratives, factual claims and bias in reporting and then writes stories. Co-founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief Nathaniel Barling said he was inspired by his father, a former BBC investigative journalist, who would bring home The Guardian, The Times and The Telegraph every day to make sure his son appreciate the range of perspectives. Barling co-founded the company with data scientists Alexandre Elkrief and Dylan Rhodes.
