ISAI has acquired a minority stake in Legalstart.fr, founded by Pierre Aïdan and Timothée Rambaud, through its Growth Equity fund, ISAI Expansion II. The leader in online legal services for businesses, which combines the efficiency of digitalization with quality customer relations, will now embark on the next stage in its development.
Legalstart.fr – the French leader in online legal services – helps entrepreneurs and small businesses across all sectors, including skilled workers, store owners and services, to manage all their legal, administrative and accounting procedures 100% online. The platform makes it extremely easy for entrepreneurs to complete the legal requirements for setting up a company, hiring an employee, managing accounts, registering a trademark or collecting unpaid debts. Better still, Legalstart.fr and its team of 60 people tuned to the needs of entrepreneurs have reinvented a customized, responsive and highly efficient service that provides quality support unanimously praised by clients.
In just five years, Legalstart.fr has helped more than 100,000 entrepreneurs, making it the undisputed leader in the French Legaltech sector. Profitable since its launch, Legalstart.fr reports an average annual increase in revenues of 150% and holds a 15% share of the disintermediated business start-up market. It provides a straightforward and affordable solution to the legal, administrative and accounting needs of entrepreneurs. Legalstart.fr is helping to drive strong growth in the disintermediation of legal procedures in France where 40% of new businesses were set up on a dematerialized basis, compared to 30% three years ago.
According to Pierre Aïdan and Timothée Rambaud, co-founders of Legalstart.fr: “We are delighted by ISAI’s decision to join us. Five years after our launch, the market has grown considerably, and growth opportunities abound. The experience and resources of an entrepreneurial fund like ISAI will be a major shot in the arm for our development.” To support its growth, Legalstart.fr aims to include more professionals in its service offer, such as lawyers, notaries and chartered accountants, continuously add new support services for entrepreneurs and step up the company’s organic growth among entrepreneur clients, its original market.
Christophe Poupinel, Operating Partner at ISAI, explains: “We closely monitor the emergence of Legaltech in France, which reflects developments in other countries. We rapidly identified the highly interesting approach and strong potential of Legalstart.fr. We took the time to talk with Pierre and Timothée over many months and we are convinced of our joint ability to lead this very exciting project.”
Pierre Martini, Managing Partner responsible for ISAI’s Growth/LBO funds adds: “It quickly became obvious that Legalstart.fr had the right qualities for our ISAI Expansion II fund: a highly attractive, self-financed and profitable company, leadership in its market, and top quality managers with a strong vision and the ability of ISAI to make a major contribution to its development through its network unique in the digital industry and its expertise in the sector.”
Established in 2013 by Timothée Rambaud and Pierre Aïdan, Legalstart.fr is the first solution to enable small- and medium-sized businesses to generate legal documents and complete administrative formalities online. Professionals can use the website to personally manage a complete range of legal requirements, from setting up a company to registering a trademark, drafting an employment contract and recovering an unpaid invoice. For more complex issues, Legalstart.fr can also put clients in contact with specialized lawyers through its network of more than one hundred partners across the legal landscape.
