Private Equity Jobs of the Week: CalSTRS, Apollo and Fortress are hiring

California State Teachers’ Retirement System is looking to hire an investment officer in the private equity unit. Under the direction of the associate portfolio manager, the hire will assist with the management of a portion of CalSTRS’ multi-billion dollar private equity investment portfolio and provides analytical and operational support for the private equity program and private equity team. The successful candidate who possesses a professional certification as a chartered financial analyst may receive a 5 percent monthly base pay differential. Applicants should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics or another similar technical field as well as a basic knowledge of financial markets. The position is in Yolo County, California.

Apollo Global Management is searching for an asset management professional for its real estate private equity team. The hire will drive analytics and track performance of investments including creating and updating investment models, valuation models, hold/sell analyses, etc. Also, he or she will work with external partners and third-party operators, agents and advisors to execute business plans and realize opportunities to create value; and conduct on-site property visits and maintain market or sector coverage with travel required. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate institution; and three to six years of experience in real estate principal investing in acquisitions, asset management, portfolio management and/or real estate investment banking. Direct investment or asset management experience is a plus, but not required. The position is in New York City.

Fortress Investment Group is on the hunt for an associate on its private equity’s transportation and infrastructure group. The hire will analyze and execute investment and asset management strategies; develop flexible financial models and perform ad hoc financial forecasting, analyses and modeling; and develop, conduct and coordinate financial analyses, reports and presentations to facilitate making important business decisions. Also, he or she will conduct financial and business diligence and evaluate new product development and acquisitions. Candidates should a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or economics; and two to four years of experience as an analyst at a top investment bank, most preferably in transportation, industrials, real estate or M&A industries. The position is in New York City.

CPP Investment Board is seeking an associate for its investment operations, private investments and real assets. The position will be a six-month contract. The hire will review trade tickets and accounting entries for accuracy; and ensure completeness of supporting documentation and appropriate authorizations are in place to facilitate investment closings. Also, he or she will partner with colleagues from the investment departments, structuring and business management, performance, tax and treasury to successfully close and fund investment transactions by proactively identifying and resolving operational issues. Candidates should have an undergraduate or masters’ degree in finance, commerce or another related discipline as well as a minimum of seven years of relevant work experience. Professional designations such as a CPA, CFA, CBV are considered an asset. The job is in Toronto.
