Audax-backed Stonewall Kitchen acquires Vermont Village


Stonewall Kitchen, a portfolio company of Audax Private Equity, has acquired Vermont Village, a maker of organic apple sauce and apple cider vinegar products. No financial terms were disclosed. Audax acquired Stonewall Kitchen in July 2019.

The Company
Vermont Village is a manufacturer of organic apple sauce and apple cider vinegar products, based in Barre, Vermont.

The Deal
Stonewall Kitchen, a portfolio company of Audax Private Equity (“Audax”), has completed the acquisition of Vermont Village, representing the company’s first acquisition since Audax’ investment.

The Thesis
In July of 2019, Audax acquired Stonewall Kitchen, one of the leading specialty food platforms in North America. Headquartered in York, Maine, Stonewall Kitchen produces and sells jams, cooking oils, sauces, condiments, crackers, baking mixes, gift baskets, and many other food products. The Company goes to market under its flagship brand Stonewall Kitchen, Tillen Farms, and Napa Valley Naturals. The acquisition of Vermont Village expands Stonewall Kitchen as a specialty food platform, adding new product innovation and distribution capabilities.
