Warburg-backed Ghostery secures patent for privacy compliance technology

Ghostery, a privacy compliance technology company backed by Warburg Pincus, LLC, received a US patent for Managing and Monitoring Digital Advertising. Headquartered in New York City, Ghostery provides software that analyzes online content to identify elements related to targeted advertisements.

The patent is for invention 9,361,631, which analyzes the electronic content of web pages to identify elements that are related to targeted advertisements. It also provides users with a notice icon that can be clicked to receive further information about the advertisement, including the network which serves the advertisement and its advertising practices.
