Online photo sharing service 500px appointed Sylvia Ng as vice president of growth and analytics. Ng, who formerly held the same title at ScribbleLive, will oversee the company’s data and user acquisition initiatives. 500px is venture backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Visual China Group and ff Venture Capital.
500px, a global online photography community for sharing, discovering and licensing amazing photos, today announces the appointment of Sylvia Ng as VP, growth & analytics.
The company also announces today that 8 million photographers have joined the 500px community and have uploaded over 80 million photos to the platform to date and that the company has rolled out several improvements to its search functionality, including improved keywording and support for Mandarin and German searches on the 500px Marketplace.

In this newly created position, Sylvia will oversee the company’s data and user acquisition initiatives: cultivating a data-driven culture inside of 500px, developing products based on data, and creating and optimizing the company’s growth model.
Prior to joining 500px, Sylvia was VP of growth and analytics at ScribbleLive. At ScribbleLive, Sylvia headed the company’s growth and marketing department, in charge with driving leads, product innovation and thought leadership. Before joining ScribbleLive, she was product marketing manager, analytics, at Alphabet (formerly Google Inc). There she led a cross-functional team of marketers, data scientists, and developers on Google’s SMB global online marketing center of excellence. She also held positions at Oanda and eBay.
“500px is aiming to disrupt the photo licensing market by leveraging ‘big data,'” said Sylvia Ng. “We are working closely with marketers and creatives to start using data to guide design choices to maximize on both conversions and brand appeal.”
Sylvia earned her Master’s Degree in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Applied Science, HCo, Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo.
