Canadian Snowboard Brand Lands US Investor

FA Design, a technology driven premium snowboard outerwear company, is targeting the U.S. for its next phase of growth with the opening of a U.S. headquarters in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Prime Group Holdings, led by President Robert Moser, has made a significant capital investment to fuel this expansion.
FA Design was founded in 2009 to expand the technical horizon for snowboard outerwear. Created by Frederick Ansara, a former Canadian pro snowboarder, FA Design uses only the highest performing materials in combination with highly advanced production methods. It is recognized for its proprietary process for engineering a modern futuristic fit without compromising style. The current line is for men, however, the brand plans to introduce a women’s line and will significantly expand its lifestyle apparel and snowsport offerings.
“We are extremely proud of our Canadian heritage and our roots in the snowboard community,” said Frederick Ansara, FA Design founder and chief design officer. “As we launch our brand in the U.S., we will continue to manufacture all of our products in Canada. We recognize that the U.S. provides an important opportunity for our brand to grow and to reach new consumers. Not only do we look forward to engaging with U.S. winter sport devotees, but also, to introducing the brand to those looking for the most stylish modern apparel for daily wear combining technical performance and fashion. Our apparel really is an extension of the wearer, not an after thought – this is our point of difference.”
“FA has seen great success in Canada and I am confident that the U.S. consumer will embrace FA’s industry leading design and technology,” said Moser. “Freddy has an incredible passion for the sport and a remarkable eye for style and performance details. With the resources we will provide, Freddy and his team will be able to take the necessary steps to thoughtfully and strategically accelerate FA Design in the U.S.”
Moser, a passionate snowboarder, found FA Design when looking for outerwear for himself and his son. “I loved what I saw in the design – a very sleek, technical look that was truly different from what was available on the market today. It was an easy decision for us to invest in the brand’s future.”
The U.S. headquarters will be in Saratoga Springs and will be co-located with Prime Group Holdings. Moser and his team will temporarily oversee the U.S. office. In the fourth quarter, FA Design will hire a general manager for U.S. operations and a designer for the women’s line, in addition to naming appropriate rep agencies in key U.S. regions.
