Marshall Excelsior Co (MEC) has bought BASE Engineering Inc, a Canadian designer and maker of radio remote control technology for the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and refined fuels industries. No financial terms were disclosed. Founded in 1996 by President and CEO Steve Belyea, BASE has its headquarters in Saint John, New Brunswick. Marshall, Michigan-based MEC said the acquisition will complement its flow-control products, which are used to transport, store and consume LPG and NH3. MEC is backed by U.S. private equity firm Harbour Group, which acquired it earlier this year.

Marshall Excelsior Acquires BASE Engineering
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Marshall Excelsior Company (“MEC”), a Harbour Group company, has acquired BASE Engineering, Inc., Jeff Fox, Harbour Group’s chairman and chief executive, announced today. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Since its founding in 1996, BASE has designed and manufactured high-quality remote, automated emergency shutdown and operational controls for the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and refined fuels industries. The company is dedicated to the highest levels of service and to providing better solutions to the challenges its customers face through continuous product innovation. BASE was founded by Steve Belyea, its CEO, and is based in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. The company sells its products in North America, Europe and Australia.
